K11 Art Foundation is pleased to announce that Chris Huen Sin Kan, who is the fifth artist-in-residence participating in the ongoing residency programme co-presented by K11 Art Foundation and the Royal Academy of Arts (RA), has started his one-month residency in the historic RA Schools Studio on 25 July 2022.

Through the residency, Huen seeks to explore his role as an artist making art within a different culture and society. Through exchange and discussion with students and professors, Huen will compare his own art study experience in Hong Kong with those in the RA and transform Weston Studio with a series of new paintings and drawings. The residency will culminate in a show which will be open to the public at the RA Schools’ Weston Studio from 30 August to 11 September 2022.

Visitors to the RA are welcome to attend drop-in sessions to witness the work in progress throughout the residency, which will take place on the following dates and times: 16, 18, 22 and 25 August 2022 from 12:00pm to 2:30pm.

As part of the residency, Huen hopes to produce a set of limited edition prints.

The partnership between K11 Art Foundation and the RA facilitates an exchange of artistic practice with Chinese artists invited to work in London to highlight the diversity and dynamism of Chinese contemporary art and for RA Schools graduates to take up residency in Greater China, whereby all these artists have an opportunity to engage with new and international audiences.
