Tung Wing Hong

Tung Wing Hong’s art explores the relationship between space and viewpoints. His display of a series of video installation include montages of video footages and endless cycles of mechanical movements. The experience radiated is an ambivalence felt familiar yet alienating. The montages on the rotating screens tell a story from different perspectives and inform a world with complexity and multiplicity. The images shown on the screen leave the audience with an uncanny sense of distance. Different sizes of screens symbolise the advancement from televisions to smartphones. While we are accustomed to looking at the world through screens, we are somehow trapped in such contrived way to look at the world. Tung Wing Hong’s technological installation is done in such an adept manner that it reaches the level unprecedented by traditional artwork and it begets an exclusive visual impact.
