Lu Yang was born in 1984 in Shanghai, China. She graduated from the China Academy of Art New Media Department in 2010. She currently resides and works in Beijing and Shanghai. Her work has been exhibited in many venues, including Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (2011), Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum (2011), Shanghai Contemporary Art Museum (2012), Guangdong Museum of Art (2012), CAFA Art Museum (2012), Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (2012), Tampa Museum of Art (2014), Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Florida (2014), Stavanger Art Museum, Stavanger, Norway (2014), Museum Fridericianum, Kassel, Germany (2015), Orange County Museum of Art, USA (2015), and O.K. Corral & Science Friction, Copenhagen, Denmark (2015). Her recent notable major exhibitions include 2012 Shanghai Biennale – Reactivation (Shanghai, 2012), The 5th Fukuoka Asian Art Triennial (2014), 4th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art (2014), China Pavilion in the Venice Biennale (2015), etc.

Lu Yang was nominated for the Pierre Huber Prize in 2014 and the 2015 TANC Asia Prize – Artist of the Year. Collectors of her important works include Fukuoka Asian Art Museum and others.
